There are ear buds and there are ear buds. Well, to clarify a little bit – there are many many Bluetooth ear buds available on the market ranging from unknown brands to the Apple Air Pods. Some of these are poor quality, some provide excellent audio for music appreciation and some deliver a pretty good two way connection so that conversations can be held whilst gaming or walking. But are they suitable for enterprise communications where poor sound will not only diminish your perceived professionalism but also potentially lead to misunderstandings.

On a personal note I have taken part in several meetings where the other participants had taken the decision that their superb ear buds – which deliver crystal clear high fidelity music on the commute are suitable for a Microsoft Teams meeting in which several people are discussing important ( to them at least ) decisions. They may look the part, but they are not designed for business meetings and invariably deliver a sub optimal audio experience to all parties ( including the wearer ) involved.

Of course, if you are in the office or working from home, there is no reason that you should not sport a traditional over the ear headset ( be it USB, Bluetooth or DECT ) which will supply a high level of noise cancellation with aplomb.

Of course, if you are deskbound for all of your working day there may well be no reason for such a device as a traditional over the head headset will perform well in such a situation. However, if you are travelling for work, working on the move, or just like the ease of use and multi device functionality of these Bluetooth earbuds then these are well worth as an addition to your tech.
