EPOS and Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams:.. at work we have been using Office 365 for years now, Outlook, Excel, Word, Sharepoint and a few other features have been in heavy use.

We have made use of its collaboration features and it has helped our business processes. But, Teams, Teams we never fully embraced until we were forced by world sweeping events to leave the office and scatter our staff to work remotely.

Then that small purple icon became ever so important. We found ourselves using Microsoft Teams not just for the occasional chat, but for company wide audio, video, document and data sharing.

Microsoft Teams Certified ?

Whenever one gets involved with a new process it is imperative that you have suitable tools that are ‘fit for purpose’, that is the point of Microsoft Teams Certified Products.

In order to be officially certified for Teams a product needs to meet stringent criteria defined by Microsoft :

Core Certification

  • Automatic selection of default audio device and prioritization if multiple audio peripherals are present.
  • Devices automatically register with the Teams client and are ready to use.
  • Audio devices (e.g., headsets, and speakerphones) offer:
    1. Basic call control across when used with a PC or a Mac devices. Basic controls include answer/hang-up, mute/unmute, and volume control.
    2. Wide-band audio with no echo, distortion, or excessive glitches. Echo cancellation is also supported across devices.
  • Video devices meet requirements for noise, color, image detail, jitter, latency, frame rate, and field of view.

New Teams Criteria

  • Dedicated Teams button and LED indicator light.
  • User notification of events and alerts from the Teams client (e.g., meeting starting, voicemail or missed call).
  • Ability to activate the Teams client or respond to notification with a press of the button (e.g., to join a meeting).
  • Certification designed for extensibility (new device/client features to be delivered via firmware update).
