customer contact expo 2014The call centre expo has taken on a new name this year – the customer contact expo – though for the last few years we have seen the conference emerge as a leading place for collaboration for all customer centric workplaces so it should come as no surprise to see this name change – the expo will remain essentially the same.

This evolution can also be seen to be a direct reflection as to the way in which customer communications are evolving. Just as in the early days of the millennium email threatened to usurp the telephone call for customer services, now we are seeing a real shift towards the use of other channels such as social media, indeed as the organisers say themselves :

Formerly known as Call Centre & Customer Management Expo, our new name better reflects the multi-channel reality of a modern contact centre or customer service operation.

Of course we think that although electronic communications are a necessity and can lessen the burden on your call centre there will always be situations that can only be resolved via actually ‘talking to the customer – one on one’.

Exhibitors

There is a fantastic array of exhibitors and presenters again this year at the expo with Plantronics, Sennheiser and Jabra demonstrating their headset technology, a myriad of cloud computing solutions from Oracle, Aastra and the likes of Cisco, Genesys and Red Box balling out their wares. It promises to be a very exciting weekend for all concerned.
