Supporting the Migration from Skype to Teams

In July of 2021, Microsoft announced the retirement of Skype for Business Online, making way for the now widely used Microsoft Teams.

To aid the businesses that had invested in Skype for Business Deskphones (3PIP Phones) and help with the transition to Teams-enabled devices, Microsoft developed a SIP Gateway that allowed Skype for Business handsets to securely connect and function as Microsoft Teams endpoints.

Then, in August 2022, Microsoft announced that support for 3rd Part IP Phones (3PIP) would stop on July 31st 2023.

So, what does this mean? Simply, if you’re using a Skype-certified desk phone that is connected to Microsoft Teams, it will no longer work after July 31st 2023.
