A Day in the life of a Remote Worker

Choosing the right headset for productivity

A lot of my clients ask the same thing; how can I tailor my headset around my working day?

To get the answer to that question I decided to experiment with the new EPOS IMPACT range.

It’s a range that presents multiple options: the in-line controls of the 700 series, the wired edition with ear cup controls in the 800 series, the wireless version 1000 series and finally the ultralight 400 series.

Having trialled all the different options, I settled on two models to see the biggest differences. The Impact 860 Wired and the Impact 1060 ANC Wireless.

Morning Meetings

WINNER:

IMPACT 860 Wired

Tuning into the virtual morning meeting to start the working day was easy with one connection, no need to mess around selecting Bluetooth options. Plug and go. Crystal clear audio throughout the call, reliable and comfortable, even on long calls.

On the move

WINNER:

IMPACT 1060 ANC Wireless

When in transit to the office or a deep work session at my local hot desk building. There can be several challenges.

First and foremost, you cannot control the noise levels of the people around you but when you activate the Active Noise Cancellation all that falls away. Background noise is eliminated and thanks to the brain adapt feature you don’t get mental fatigue for the privilege.

Afternoon Calls

WINNER:

IMPACT 1060 ANC Wireless

For afternoon calls, I can be in a hot desk environment or on the move. By sticking with the wireless 1060 ANC I don’t need to worry about snagging any wires but also the noise cancelling microphone comes into it’s own.

Granted the microphone is the same on every model in the IMPACT series that I trialled, however, even the busiest environment goes unnoticed to both myself and the person I am speaking to. All thanks to the EPOS AI I can make calls distraction free.

But which one is the right headset for you?

Both the Impact 860 Wired and the Impact 1060 ANC Wireless have brilliant strengths. They both look slick with a matte black finish. The debate is really about the environment you plan to use them in.

The Impact 860 Wired is perfect when you need a stable connection, in meetings but also when you need to focus in a less hectic environment. The comfortable cushioning still provides a degree of noise cancellation for the environment around you.

The Impact 1060 ANC stands alone when you are in a more dynamic environment, on the move and need ultra focus.

Regardless, either headset is a great addition that allows for a productivity boost with fantastic noise cancellation on the microphone allowing for undisturbed calls and meetings.
